Forecasters expect the storm to be a strong Category 2 at landfall.
The current path of Delta shows a significant threat to Acadiana today. The models are in agreement with landfall near the Cameron parish coastline, take a northeast turn, and affecting most of Acadiana.
A Hurricane Warning has been posted for much Acadiana along with storm surge watches for coastal parishes. Jeff Davis and Acadia are also included in the Storm Surge Watch.
KLFY Meteorologists are estimating storm surge 4′ to 12′ feet east of the center of rotation. The flash flooding threat should be low though as will be a fast-moving storm. Most of Acadiana will receive 4″-8″ inches of rain with this event.
